How to create a Kahoot
I have written several times about my love for Kahoot, but I have never really taken the time to calmly and properly explain how to create a Kahoot. That's why I'm going to do so right now. Here is an easy step-by-step guide on how to make the classroom rock!
Create a Kahoot of your own
Kahoot is a tool that makes it possible to create fun and engaging quizzes in a simple way. The most common way to use it is through quick knowledge questions, but you can also use questions that require more thinking. Kahoot will automatically add compelling music to your quizzes, which makes it more fun.
First of all, you need to know the difference between kahoot.com and Kahoot.it. These two addresses lead to different sites. When you want to create a Kahoot, you will need to use: www.kahoot.com the other address
www.kahoot.it is used by the students when they want to play.
Step 1 – Sign in
Are you all set on Kahoot.com? Great! The first time you enter, you need to create an account. You do this by clicking “sign up”. You will then be asked to choose a username and password. It’s free to become a basic member, and you’ll find that there’s a lot that you can do in the free version, so my suggestion is that you try that first!
Step 2 – See if you can save some time
Step two when you want to play Kahoot is to click “Discover” to find Kahoots that someone already made. You can find Kahoots in any langue and on any topic that you can think of!
Here you’ll find Kahoots from all over the world, and you can copy and use them for free. It will save you a ton of time if someone already made a Kahoot that you can use in full or edit just a bit for perfection!Keep in mind that the more precise your keywords are when you search, the more accurate Kahoots will appear in the list. I often use the name of the book we use as a keyword, and I usually find dozens of Kahoots made by colleagues for each chapter in the book.
Step 3 – Modify your Kahoot
Once you find a Kahoot that is close to what you want, you can click the three dots at the bottom of the box and chose “Duplicate”. The Kahoot will now turn up in your collection, and you can make any changes to it that you want. In order to change it, you click “edit”, and you will be taken to a PowerPoint-like edit-screen where you may make changes. When you are happy, and everything is to your liking you press “Done” to save the changes.
Step 4 – Play the Kahoot and have fun!
When it is time to play, you click “Kahoots” at the top list and look for the Kahoot you want. When you click “Play” you will get two choices. If you’re going to let the games begin right away you choose “Teach”, and without further ado, you can select “Classic”. After that, the only thing left is to listen to the students rejoicing!
When the number is displayed the students may visit
www.kahoot.it
or start the app on their phones and write the number and a nickname. Everything else will take care of itself if you just press “next” every once in a while.
If you want to create a Kahoot that goes on for a week you can read “How to make a Kahoot of the week” (and get some free posters as well!!)
