The ICT-teacher turns schools into Hogwarts

ICT teachers turn schools into Hogwarts

I have always loved Harry Potter, and as a former school librarian, I have experienced how the kids get to enter the adventure for the very first time and as an ICT teacher, I want to create Hogwarts for real!! Who has never dreamed of getting the letter that says that you will be starting at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry?

ICT teachers really wants to be magicians

I’m an ICT teacher and I’m working on trying to create the digital – or why not the magical – classroom! I can see so many similarities between Harry Potter and my everyday job. The moving pictures on Hogwarts are, of course, Smartboards on the walls. The fat lady who guards Gryffindor’s dormitory can easily be created with modern voice control. It only takes a “Hello Google” before the secret password for the door to slide open. The ceiling in the Great Hall that mirrors the sky would be could be created with Philips Hue lights that can be connected to Google Weather. In that way, they will always mirror the sky! Abra Cadabra!

Although I might be taking things a little too far, it is the magic and simplicity that I want to create in a digital classroom. Assignments should magically appear in front of every student, tests correct themselves and compile the results in a neat list. Students’ attendance is automatically documented when they enter the room – face recognition could do the trick!

Everything should just happen – almost like magic. That’s what I want to achieve! Digitization should not fill the staff with anxiety or stress because it’s hard to keep up or that it’s too much new stuff. That only makes people reluctant and negative. Instead, it can be fun and the teachers should witness one boring task after another disappear. As a teacher, I should not even need to swing a magic wand for the tests to be collected, it should happen anyway. After correcting themselves they arrange the results in a neat list. Attendance management disappears and no one ever needs to copy a piece of paper again. Everything should just take care of itself – that’s what I want to achieve!!!

  1. Very nice post. I merely stumbled upon your journal and wished to mention that I even have extremely enjoyed browsing your weblog posts. finally I’ll be subscribing on your feed and that i am hoping you write once more terribly soon!

  2. Very eye-catching journal. heaps of sites I see as of late don’t very much give something that draws in others, anyway I’m most emphatically captivated by this one. just an idea that I’d present and permit you to capture.
